Turanganui 2019 Highlights

Today I was learning how to create a compilation of photos using WeVideo.

I enjoyed making and playing around with all the customization. I had so much fun discovering all the different features.

I found it challenging to not make it too long. It was mesmerizing me with all the features and I tried to not make it too long.

My digital learning object shows my compilation of 2019 highlights.

Next time I would try and make it even more better with more effects and pictures.

Statchat card and RWC stat graph

Today I was learning how to use google spreadsheets to create a graph and a statchat card for my all black of choice.

I enjoyed discovering all the different features to google spreadsheets.

I found it challenging to find labeled for reuse pictures on the web that was suitable for the statchat card.

My digital learning object shows my statchat card on Beaudan Barrett and my All Black RWC stat graph for Beaudan Barrett, Ben smith and Richie Mo'unga.

Next time I would like to make my statchat card look a bit more colourful.

RWC Wales report

Recently we have been writing a report on the countries that will be participating in the rugby world cup.
I enjoyed researching and finding out about the history of Wales.
I found it challenging to publish it since I had no draft. ( I was gone for a few days and ended up behind on my report writing)
My digital learning object shows my report on the country Wales.
Next time I would try to write more detailed sentences.

My writing ⇩⇩⇩
Wales Report
Introduction
There are a lot of things to learn about Wales, Like their food, traditions, myths and legends, Flag history and way more.
According to Wikipedia Wales Is a part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain.
The people of Wales officially speak Welsh and English.
Capital is Cardiff and their population is 3.185 million as of 2019.

Myths and legends
One day a celtic King By the name of Vortigern was Searching for a new Domain to build a castle in.
He eventually found a spot he liked and began building.
Before they started a young boy (some believed to be Merlin) Warned Vortigern about 2 Dragons laying under their building grounds.
Vortigern Didn't take notice and ordered his men to build anyway.
His men eventually found the two dragons. One red and one white.
They have been awoken by the loud noises of the digging and building.
They were both obviously Furious.
The red and white dragons were fighting until the red dragon and finally won!
Nowadays the red dragon is known to represent Wales.

Flag history
Just like all other countries, Wales has a flag.
The bottom half is green while the top half is white, A red dragon resides in the middle tying into the myth.
The white half Symbolises peace and honesty.
The green half symbolises joy and hope.
The red dragon symbolises valor and bravery.
The welsh flag is officially there national flag.

Wales history
Humans arrived in their region thousands of years ago as neanderthals. Neanderthals lived in what is now wales.
Neanderthals are in fact primates.
They can grow up to 1.6 to 1.7 m for males and 1.5 to 1.6 m for females.
The word wales and welsh originated from the germanic word walh or walha (plural).
The name walh is supposed to relate to anything welsh.

Wales food
Wales has a lot of food!
Welsh cakes, Welsh rabbit, laver bread, glamorgan sausage, bara brith literally translating to speckled bread and their most popular dish cawl.
All of these food titles are known to be welsh dishes.
Cawl is their most loved dish containing the cooks preferred meat, potatoes, swedes and carrots.
Cawl in english means soup.

Wales disasters
The earth is prone to disasters like meteorites, earthquakes, tsunamis and more.
On the date 21st October 1966 at roughly 9:15 am, a catastrophe happened in a small village called aberfan.
A collapse of colliery spoil tip had occurred on top of a mountain slope above aberfan.
144 people were killed during the disaster and 35 people were injured.
Out of the 144 who died 116 were school children between ages 7 - 10.
It was serious. RIP.

Conclusion
Wales is very unique and is a very lovely place to visit.
It offers beautiful scenery combined with great lore.
It has a very interesting past and will surely be fun to try out all of the food options!
Overall wales is a great and unique country.

RWC Wales Uniform IRL

Today I was learning about tracing an image and also removing the background of an image using removebg.
I enjoyed making the shoes and uniform with the polyline and curve line tool.
I found it challenging to take the picture since it was a very hard position to pull off.
My digital learning object shows me in the Wales RWC uniform that I created using google drawings polyline and curve tool. I used removebg to get rid of the pictures background and replace it with a rugby field.

I enjoyed making an original design for the RWC.
I found it challenging to trace the dragon since it was a very complex picture.
My digital learning object shows our progress in creating our mascot.
We are about half way through still trying to trace the dragon.
Next time I would try to work faster to get that dragon done.

I love the mind lab and this brought me back to when I use to take animation classes there.
Stem was very fun since we got to play a bunch of minigames with all sorts of people.
We stacked towers, stacked cups and played a little memory game.
overall stem was very fun and I'm looking forward to the rest.

Drone report plan

Recently we have been writing a report on drones and the future for them. We had to make a replica of our planning sheet using google slides. The planning sheet is made to look like a burger. The buns are the Intro and Conclusion and the contents are the 3 paragraphs. I had a lot of fun making this.

Science Poster - Pest control

On the 7th of August 2019 Turanganui hub of Gisborne Intermediate walked down to our local waikanae stream to take part in a project produced by the folks at EIT and DOC. We talked about our local problems and how we can fix them in the future. The one that caught my eye was pest control. A week after that trip we started doing science posters. Science posters have to be about a topic involving science. My topic is pest control! ⇩⇩⇩

My maths quiz ( In the works)

Today in manaiakalani we were working on making a maths quiz. You had to make a story plot and make some maths questions. We were taught how to link images to slides so when you click the image it will take you to a specific slide. We did not finish so this is just a screenshot on where we are up to.
My intro to the quiz.
My story is about a wizard battling another wizard. You answer maths questions to help the wizard win the magic duel.

Moment In Time - Surfing

Our hub (LH8) was doing an assessment called a moment in time, basically it is a complex and detailed piece of writing that covers a short moment in time. (hints in the name) This is my writing on a short clip in time. I was at mahia camp, surfing for the first time in my life.
I enjoyed surfing and camp so much! I made a lot of new friends, and would love to go again sometime!

Moment In Time - The Arrival

So basically in Manaikalani we were learning all about spicing up our writing to be more eye catching to readers, while also teaching everyone the basics of editing, inserting and also publishing.
Personally, I had my ups and downs. I did great in making it, but had some trouble with publishing it, but overall did my best.
In this piece of writing I have written about being back in the old days and experiencing the Endeavours (Captain Cook) arrival and what it felt like to be in their shoes. Enjoy!
